Rishabh Pant's Performance Throws Doubts
Team India blue-eyed boy Rishabh Pant hasn't been enjoying a easy IPL 2025 season so far. His count so far is only 128 runs scored in 11 matches. Even his latest offering of 18 runs from 17 balls vs Punjab didn't work in rectifying his slump. With one half-century, only doubts regarding his present run of form and thought process are arising.
Sehwag Demands Pant Rebuild Confidence
Virender Sehwag, a retired Indian cricketer, gave valuable tips to Pant. He recommended that he look at previous game videos in order to build confidence. Sehwag also recalled when he went through troubled times during the 2006-07 season, when subpar performance pushed him out of the Indian side.
He remembered, "Rahul Dravid told me to return to my old habits. Disturbances in regular practice or training can affect performance. That tip put me back on track."
Sehwag's Tip: Speak to Dhoni
Open communication were highlighted by Sehwag as being crucial in times of adversity. He advised Pant to speak to someone who knows—particularly his idol, MS Dhoni.
"He needs to speak to Dhoni. A casual chat can remove evil thoughts. Talking to someone like Dhoni will definitely boost his morale," Sehwag said.
Pollock Finds Team Composition Problems
Former South African cricketer Shaun Pollock also spoke his mind. He feels Pant could be experiencing issues with the team composition.
"There is not a lot of Indian presence in his team. With four overseas batsmen at the top, Pant will feel isolated and won't be able to play freely. That impacts performance," said Pollock.
