- The Assembly elections conducted through four states and one Union Territory produced unexpected results which fundamentally changed the political structure of India.

Congress Returns to Power in Kerala
- The Congress-led UDF achieved a major victory in Kerala by winning 102 seats, while the Left Front only managed to secure 35 seats.
- The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan resigned after his party suffered defeat. This outcome marks the first time in 50 years that Left parties in India lost all power in every state.
BJP Retains Assam with Massive Mandate
- The BJP achieved its third consecutive electoral victory in Assam under Himanta Biswa Sarma's leadership.
- The BJP alliance won 102 seats which included 82 seats won through independent voting. The total number of seats which the alliance won exceeded the majority requirement of 64 seats. Sarma won the Jalukbari constituency for his sixth time at the polls by more than 100000 votes.
NDA Holds Puducherry
N. Rangasamy and his All India N.R. Congress party won their second consecutive term in power at the Puducherry elections. The NDA alliance won 18 seats which confirmed its control over the Union Territory.
Vijay’s TVK Storm in Tamil Nadu
