Deepti Sharma Returns To UP Warriors For Rs. 3.20 Crore In WPL 2026 Auction

High Bidding Activity for Deepti Sharma

There was an avid interest during the WPL 2026 mega auction around Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma. Delhi Capitals opened the bid with the base price of Rs. 50 lakh. UP Warriors used RTM, which helps a franchise retain a player who previously played for them. As UP activated RTM, Delhi raised it to Rs. 3.20 crore. UP matched the amount and retained Deepti.

Why UP Used RTM for Deepti Sharma

Deepti led the UP Warriors in the previous season but was not retained ahead of the auction. With a strong performance record and as a leader, UP opted to buy her back using RTM. Sourav Ganguly, who was part of the Delhi Capitals management at the auction, seemed surprised that UP were willing to pay this premium amount.

Deepti Sharma fetched the highest-ever price.

The final price of Rs. 3.20 crore made Deepti Sharma the second most expensive player in WPL history. Smriti Mandhana is still the most expensive, bought earlier by RCB for Rs. 3.40 crore.

Deepti Sharma's Recent World Cup Performance

Deepti had a fine run in the recent Women's World Cup. Her all-round contribution helped India win the title. She scored 215 runs and took 22 wickets for the Player of the Tournament award.
