New Diplomatic Move Amid Rising Tensions
Iran has introduced new proposals to the United States for conflict resolution between their two countries which represents a major development within their continuing diplomatic standoff. The official reports indicate that the 14 key proposals were sent to Washington through diplomatic channels which used Pakistan as their delivery method. The organization aims to achieve permanent settlement through its activities instead of creating short-term solutions.
14-Point Plan Seeks Permanent Solution
- Iran proposed its plan as an answer to the nine-point plan which the United States already shared with them. Tehran decided to take a wider path by demanding that all fighting should stop permanently and completely. The demands require a total halt of military operations which should apply to all areas including locations that extend beyond active battlefields and include Lebanese territory.
- Iran requires a peace treaty to end the conflict within 30 days while the United States proposed an extension of its temporary ceasefire. The proposal shows Tehran believes that a brief ceasefire period will not solve the fundamental problems that cause the war.
Key Demands: Sanctions, Security, and Assets
- The proposal presents its main demands which include security assurances that will stop future Iranian attacks. The Iranian government demands that American soldiers must leave all zones which share borders with Iran because it wants to maintain long-lasting peace.
- Iran requires the United States to unfreeze its international financial assets which it holds overseas and to remove all economic restrictions from its territory. The proposal demands the removal of all restrictions which apply to the crucial Strait of Hormuz and requires compensation for all damages which occurred during the conflict.
Ball Is in America’s Court
Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that the proposals are designed to bring a permanent end to the war. He emphasized that the responsibility now lies with the United States to choose between diplomacy and continued confrontation. According to him, Iran is prepared for either path in order to protect its national interests and security.
Trump Responds with Caution
Responding to the proposal, Donald Trump stated that he would review the plan soon. However, his remarks indicated skepticism regarding its acceptance. In a post on Truth Social, Trump suggested that Iran has not yet faced sufficient consequences for its actions over the past decades, raising doubts about whether the proposal would be acceptable to the US.
