IPL 2025 Postponed Indefinitely Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

BCCI Postpones IPL 2025 in View of Player Safety

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has deferred the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) indefinitely. This comes in the wake of increased tensions between India and Pakistan. As the playoff round intensified, BCCI officials insisted that player safety was the primary concern.

A BCCI official said, "With the nation in war-like situations, conducting cricket matches does not seem fitting at the moment." It can be mentioned that the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match had been halted mid-way earlier due to security concerns.

Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match today at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow too has been hit. Although the tournament is at the moment in a temporary pause mode, the BCCI hasn't yet scheduled any particular date for its revival.

Railways Denies Special Train for IPL Player Transport

According to the original plan, BCCI had made special arrangements for the trip of Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals players and staff from Dharamsala to Delhi by the Vande Bharat Express. But railway officials have reported the path through Pathankot as too risky in the current scenario, resulting in denial of permission for traveling on a train.

Instead of that, the BCCI is arranging bus transportations to safely escort the teams to Delhi.
