Starc's Availability in IPL 2025 in Doubt
Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who plays for Delhi Capitals, might not come back for the rest of IPL 2025. Following India-Pakistan tensions in recent times, the IPL was temporarily postponed, and games are now expected to resume from May 16. The original date of the final, May 25, has now been rescheduled for May 30.
But Starc has already returned to Sydney. He refused to speak when contacted by local reporters about staying on in the tournament. Star's manager later informed that Starc is able to rest from the matches in IPL 2025.
Other Australian Players Can Also Leave
There are indications Pat Cummins and Travis Head from Sunrisers Hyderabad are thinking of withdrawing. The decision follows preparations for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final, scheduled for Lord's starting June 11. Various players from New Zealand have already returned, with an uncertain presence for South African players.
Impact of IPL Postponement on Teams
The schedule disruption has affected teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who were performing well. However, it has benefited Rajat Patidar, RCB’s captain. He sustained a finger injury during a match against Chennai Super Kings, but the break has allowed him time to recover. Patidar is currently striving to be in the best shape to play in the IPL playoffs and to be ready for the impending tour of England with the India A team.
