WTC final at Lord's from 11th to 15th June
The World Test Championship (WTC) Final will be played at Lord’s from June 11 to June 15. The next match of this series will be between South Africa and Australia. South Africa has 69.44 points and 8 wins in 12 games which puts them ahead of the others in the standings. Australia stands second with 67.54 points from 13 wins in 19 matches.
Australia announced its squad earlier today. South Africa also confirmed its 15-member team, led by Temba Bavuma. South Africa has become even more formidable with the return of Lungi Ngidi, who was sidelined for previous Tests due to injury.
IPL Teams May Lose Key Players
The WTC Final may impact several Indian Premier League (IPL) teams. The squad consists of many players who are also participants of the just-concluded IPL.
Eight players among the South African WTC team are IPL participants:
- Rickelton and Corbin Bosch (Mumbai)
- Lungi Ngidi (RCB)
- Tristan Stubbs (Delhi)
- Marco Janssen (Punjab)
- Aiden Markram (Lucknow)
- Kagiso Rabada (Gujarat)
- Wiaan Mulder (Hyderabad)
From Australia’s squad, these IPL players are involved:
- Pat Cummins and Travis Head (Hyderabad)
- Josh Hazlewood (RCB)
- Josh Inglis (Punjab)
- Mitchell Starc (Delhi)
Teams like Mumbai, RCB, Delhi, Lucknow and Punjab can safely be reckoned as those who would possibly qualify for the playoffs. These teams may lose their overseas players if national duties take priority.
Additional International Withdrawals
With the war of words raging on between India and Pakistan, a few players from various countries who were a part of the Indian team have pulled out of India.
