Shubman Gill Praised by Moeen Ali
Former England cricketer Moeen Ali expressed his backing of Indian player Shubman Gill. Rohit Sharma, the former Indian captain, has recently revealed that he is going to quit from the Test format. The Indian team is going to travel to England in June for a five-match Test series.
With this alteration, there is conjecture that Gill might take Rohit's place in the team. Moeen Ali finds Gill a likely candidate. He explained Gill as being clever and commended his leadership potential. Moeen also feels that Gill might make a good captain.
Jasprit Bumrah Under consideration, but Fitness Is Concern
Jasprit Bumrah is also in the running for captaincy. Moeen, however, asked if Bumrah can play all five matches considering his previous injuries. He advised selectors to choose someone who is likely to be available for the entire series.
Gill's IPL Experience May Come in Handy
Even though Gill has no Test captaincy experience, he leads Gujarat Titans in the IPL currently. Moeen emphasized this and explained Gill is doing well. He also mentioned that English conditions may prove hard to handle, but Gill is smart enough to do so.
