James Anderson, former England fast bowler, is astonished that Virat Kohli has decided to retire from Test cricket. Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma, announced his retirement just days before the upcoming England tour. Anderson acknowledged Kohli’s significant contribution as a Test batsman and praised his overall performance.
Anderson Highlights India’s Bench Strength
Anderson pointed out that even after the retirement of experienced players such as Kohli and Rohit, India has a good reservoir of talent. According to him, India has able players who will step up to fill the vacancies. Anderson termed Rohit Sharma a good captain and stated that a new captain would replace him soon.
India's New Test Approach
He noted that most of the players now enter the Test team with experience from IPL. These players, as per Anderson, play confidently and with aggression. He noted that India's team at present is not short of batting or bowling talent.
England Series Will Be Challenging
Regarding the upcoming five-match Test series, the Englishman believes that India will be given a tough time by England for sure. He stressed that the series ahead of India will prove challenging for India's depth and capacity to play after losing two stalwarts.
