IPL 2025: South Africa Reverses Decision, Opens Door For Full Player Availability

IPL Schedule Resumes After Brief Suspension

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which was delayed for a week due to tensions at India-Pakistan borders, will resume from May 17. This delay had left the IPL teams confused regarding the availability of South African players.

South Africa Opens Up Player Availability

Cricket South Africa (CSA) had initially intended to return its players by May 26. This was done with the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June in mind. CSA had announced that preparing for the WTC final was its top priority.

Now, CSA has reversed this choice. The board has decided to allow players to stay with their IPL franchises until the culmination of the tournament.

WTC Preparation Schedule Reversed

CSA shortened its WTC preparation period. Earlier, a preparatory match against Zimbabwe was planned on June 3. CS Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe opines that this match is scrapped. WTC final preparations will now begin directly on June 3.

IPL Teams Receive Key Player Boost

Following the new schedule, several South African players will be available all season long in the IPL:
