India A to Play England Lions Before Test Series

The test series is about to start and the India A selection panel has announced the India A squad. England Lions will be playing India A in a three-match four-day series. The first two encounters will be played with the current team.

Abhimanyu Easwaran to Lead the Squad

The selectors have released an 18-member team on Friday. Abhimanyu Easwaran is appointed as captain. Dhruv Jurel is also the vice-captain and he will be the wicket-keeper too.

Experienced Test Players Included

There are quite a few cricketers in the team who have played Test cricket earlier. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Sarfaraz Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Harshit Rana, and Akash Deep are the new entrants in the experienced team that is looking at good depth.

Return of Shardul Thakur and Karun Nair

Those who were not with the team for the last four years, Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur, have also made it to the team. Their return brings balance and depth in batting as well as bowling.

Gill and Sudarshan to feature in Second Match

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan will be on duty from the second match, which is to be held on June 6. They belong to Gujarat Titans in the IPL, who can make their way to the playoffs.

Captaincy and Selection Indications for Senior Team

It's being said that Shubman Gill is in line to lead the senior India team for the Test series against England. Sai Sudarshan may get his first Test call due to his encouraging performance in the IPL.

Schedule and Test Team Updates

India A are scheduled to face-off in three matches. The national men's Test team is not allotted any play in the third and final four-day match which is to be held from June 13 to 16.
