Stand in Name of Rohit Sharma Dedicated in Mumbai

Established Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma expressed himself after a stand in Wankhede Stadium was formally named in his name. He described the moment as special and memorable. The announcement was made at a ceremony at the stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

Rohit did not dream of having a stadium stand dedicated in his honor. He was delighted to be noticed at a stadium where cricket icons have played. He also added that having friends and family members present at the event made it all the more special.

Coming IPL Match at Wankhede Gives Emotional Touch

The stand naming was only done days prior to the IPL match in Mumbai on May 21. Rohit commented that, at Wankhede, playing will be different, particularly with his name being put on a stand. He further expressed that playing for the country at this venue now holds more emotional significance.

Family and Dignitaries Attend the Ceremony

Rohit's parents, Gurunath and Purnima Sharma, were also there to attend the ceremony. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present and participated in the unveiling.

Besides Rohit's stand, other stands at Wankhede were also dedicated to former India skipper Ajit Wadekar and BCCI president Sharad Pawar.
