Shreyas Iyer Inspires Team With Powerful Leadership: Suresh Raina

Unwavering Captaincy and Powerful Batting Performance

Former Indian player Suresh Raina has praised Shreyas Iyer's captaincy in the IPL. Punjab Kings currently have Iyer as their captain after he captained Kolkata Knight Riders to victory last season. Punjab Kings bagged Iyer for a staggering ₹26.75 crores at the IPL mega auction. He has scored 405 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 50.63. He has four half-centuries to his credit.

Positive Team Atmosphere and Support from Coaching Staff

Raina said that Iyer is creating a good vibe in the dressing room. He is motivating the teammates and pushing them to triumph. The coach Ricky Ponting is also making a contribution by providing good support. The opening combination of Prabhusimran Singh and Priyansh Arya is laying good foundations, which Iyer constructs upon throughout the innings.

Challenges Faced by Punjab Kings

Raina also referred to the untimely incidents happening to Punjab Kings. During a spin in Eden Gardens, the team amassed more than 200 runs, but rain intervened, and the match was suspended. In another game at Dharamsala, Punjab were scoring at a formidable rate of 124 for 1 from 10.1 overs. Yet again, the game had to be stopped, this time due to the increasing hostilities between India and Pakistan. Raina described these events as an indication that Punjab Kings have not been fortunate this season.
