
Rohit Sharma Receives Stand Named After Him at Wankhede Stadium
Rohit Sharma was the person after which one of the sections of Wankhede Cricket Stadium was named. The honor has been bestowed upon him to recognize his service to the Mumbai team and Indian cricket.
The naming ceremony took place on Friday night. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was present for the ceremony. Rohit's mom, Poornima, and dad, Gurunath Sharma, were also present to assist in the unveiling of the stand. Rohit described the moment as extremely special and something that he could not even imagine.
Rahul Dravid Congratulates Rohit Sharma
Ex Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid also conveyed his best wishes. He indicated Rohit's accomplishments in cricket had been given the proper respect. Dravid complimented Rohit for playing numerous sixes into the Wankhede stands throughout his life.
Dravid further added this latest honor was a deserved reward. He further stated it reflected Rohit's contribution for Mumbai and India in cricket.
Dravid Makes Light-Hearted Remark
As he complimented Rohit, Dravid even cracked a joke. He added, "If I ever need tickets at the Mumbai stadium, now I know who to ask."
The occasion was a happy one and was captured in a video that the Mumbai Indians shared on Instagram. Dravid even wished Rohit good luck to score plenty of sixes in the times to come.
