Moeen Ali Shares Parents’ Experience During 'Operation Sindoor' In PoK

Moeen Ali’s Parents Were in PoK During India's Military Operation

Indian forces recently conducted airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) after a terror attack in Pahalgam. England cricketer Moeen Ali, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL), revealed that his parents were in PoK when these strikes happened.

Discussing on a podcast, Moeen explained that the situation was strained. He explained that the military operation, 'Operation Sindoor,' occurred near where his parents were living.

Family Was Close to Conflict Zone

"At that moment, my parents were in PoK," said Moeen. "The attacks were happening just an hour's distance from their place. Things turned quickly when they knew the gravity of the situation. They felt they were in a war zone."

He added that no missiles hit the exact area where his parents were, which helped them escape safely. “They boarded the only available flight and left immediately. Thankfully, they were safe,” he said.

Moeen Ali’s IPL Journey Interrupted

Moeen Ali had been playing in the IPL. However, he went back home after the tournament was suspended following increased tensions between India and Pakistan. Even after the league had resumed, he did not go back to the Kolkata Knight Riders team.

Family History Linked to PoK

Moeen's origins lie in the Mirpur area in PoK. His grandfather had emigrated to the United Kingdom as a child. He settled in England and wedded a British lady. Moeen was subsequently born in Birmingham, where his family resides.
