Gujarat Titans overwhelm with opening pair show
Gujarat Titans have performed strongly in this season of IPL. They crushed Delhi with a dominating victory and booked a place in the playoffs. Gujarat's opening duo of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill has performed consistently. This duo contributed to Gujarat scoring a historic milestone — they became the first team in IPL history to chase 200 runs without losing a single wicket.
Win over Delhi creates new milestones
During the match against Delhi on Sunday, Gujarat completed the target in 19 overs. Sai Sudharsan made 108 runs, and captain Shubman Gill made 93. Both of their performances enabled Gujarat to achieve the target without providing any other batter an opportunity to play. Due to this, the team established a number of new IPL records.
Record: 200+ chase without a wicket
Gujarat became the first team to pursue more than 200 runs in IPL history without a wicket being lost. The previous record was by Kolkata Knight Riders, who had scored 184 without a wicket against Gujarat Lions in 2017.
Gill and Sudharsan: Highest scoring Indian pair
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan now share the record for most runs as an Indian opening duo in a single IPL season. They have accumulated 839 runs in partnership so far. This breaks the record of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, who had 744 runs.
Top partnership records in IPL
Gill and Sudharsan have also featured among the highest opening partnerships. Their 210-run partnership in the last season is second equalled. Their latest 205-run stand now stands at third position. KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock hold the highest record with their 210-run stand in 2022 for Lucknow Super Giants.
Playoff berth and title hopes
With 9 victories in the ongoing season, Gujarat Titans have climbed to the pinnacle of the points table. They are now well-placed to fight for the IPL championship once more.
