BCCI Suspends Digvesh Rathi for Code of Conduct Breach
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has suspended Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi for one match. The suspension came after an on-field argument with Abhishek Sharma in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday.
Repeat Offenses Result in Disciplinary Action
This is the third disciplinary offense by Rathi in the current IPL season. He had previously received fines for excessive celebrations after taking wickets.
Penalties Announced
The BCCI has taken the following actions:
- Rathi will miss the next match against Gujarat Titans on May 22 in Ahmedabad.
- He has been fined 50% of his match fee.
- His total demerit points now stand at five for the season.
Action Taken Against Abhishek Sharma
BCCI also fined Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Abhishek Sharma for his role in the same event. He was penalized with:
- 25% deduction in match fee.
- One demerit point on his account.
