Navjot Singh Sidhu Supports Jasprit Bumrah As Perfect Indian Test Captain

Sidhu Deems Bumrah a Natural Test Cricket Captain

Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has said that Jasprit Bumrah is the perfect fit to captain the Indian Test team. This statement came during India's process of selecting a team for their tour of England.

This comes after the recent Test retirement of Rohit Sharma. The BCCI now turns its attention to finding a new Test captain.

Sidhu Cites Team Issues and Strengths of Bumrah

The Indian Test side, according to Sidhu, requires a strong and able leader. He stated that the team has been unable to move forward without strong leadership.

He stressed that the captain also needs to win over the trust and support of team members. Sidhu cited Hardik Pandya's captaincy in the previous IPL season as one instance of changing acceptance among players.

Bumrah's Overseas Record Backs His Argument

Sidhu complimented Bumrah's performance in overseas matches. He pointed out that Bumrah's consistent performance overseas is a testament to his quality as a leader.

Sidhu also made it clear he is not against Shubman Gill being in the squad. But he considers Gill as a top-order batsman, who can play either as an opener or at number three.

Other Player Suggestions by Sidhu

Sidhu suggested a few players for the middle order. He named Sarfaraz Khan, Shreyas Iyer, and Karun Nair as potential options.

For the number four slot, his choice is KL Rahul.
