
A New Phase for Indian Test Cricket
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially named Shubman Gill as the new captain of India’s Test team. He replaces Rohit Sharma in the longest format of the game. The announcement came as part of the squad reveal for the upcoming England tour, scheduled to start on June 20.
Rishabh Pant has been named as the vice-captain. The squad includes 18 players in total for the five-match Test series against England.

New Faces and Comebacks

With Virat Kohli retiring from Test cricket, the number 3 batting position remains open. Both Sai Sudarshan and Karun Nair are potential contenders for that slot.
Key Absences in the Squad
Injured pacer Mohammed Shami is not part of the squad. Additionally, Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan have also not been selected.
