'Kohli Waited 18 Years, Sachin Waited Longer' Says Sehwag

RCB finally wins IPL title after long wait

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has secured its first Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2025. This win ends an 18-year wait for the team. With this victory, Virat Kohli’s dream of lifting the IPL trophy has come true.

Sehwag compares Kohli’s journey to Sachin’s

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag opined about Kohli's wait of 18 years for the IPL title. He mentioned that while Kohli waited 18 years for the IPL title, even Sachin Tendulkar waited much longer for the ODI World Cup. The World Cup dream of Tendulkar was fulfilled in 2011.

"Sachin's wait was much longer" – Sehwag

Sehwag highlighted that Kohli took a wait of 18 years, whereas Tendulkar waited from 1989 until 2011. This indicates how much more patiently Sachin had to wait, as per Sehwag. He further included that Sachin never gave up and finally got his way.

Kohli is now able to retire with no regrets

Sehwag said that Kohli can now feel satisfied. Winning the IPL title removes any regrets he might have had. Sehwag also mentioned that while money comes and goes in a cricket career, trophies are hard to win and truly matter to players.
