
MS Dhoni Receives Rare Honor from ICC
MS Dhoni, the Indian cricket team's former captain, has been included in the ICC Hall of Fame. This is not a common and significant recognition. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named seven players this year. They include five men and two women.
Cricketers on the 2025 Hall of Fame List
In addition to Dhoni, four other cricketers were selected:
- Graeme Smith (South Africa)
- Hashim Amla (South Africa)
- Matthew Hayden (Australia)
- Daniel Vettori (New Zealand)
The two women cricketers selected for this honor are:
- Sana Mir (Pakistan)
- Sarah Taylor (England)

ICC Chairman Greg Barclay welcomed the new inductees. According to him, the Hall of Fame gives respect to players who have really stood out in cricket. He explained that the legacy of the sport is preserved through this. He also said that they can inspire a generation of players in the future.

MS Dhoni remains the only Indian captain to win all three major ICC tournaments. He led India to victory in:
- 2007 T20 World Cup
- 2011 ODI World Cup
- 2013 ICC Champions Trophy

In his international career, Dhoni played 538 matches. He scored 17,266 runs across formats. As a wicketkeeper, he made 829 dismissals through catches and stumpings.
Current Role in Cricket
Dhoni retired from international cricket five years ago. However, he continues to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
