Ben Stokes Shares Thoughts On Playing Without Virat Kohli In Upcoming Test Series

The five-match Test series between India and England is scheduled to start on June 20. Recently, Indian players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from Test cricket. Following their departure, selectors named Shubman Gill as the new captain, with Rishabh Pant appointed as the vice-captain.

Ben Stokes Reflects on Kohli’s Absence

England captain Ben Stokes spoke about India's team for the series. He said Virat Kohli will not be available this time. Stokes said Kohli's jersey number 18 will no longer be seen on the ground. "It feels strange not to see that number," he said.

Stokes also shared a personal message he sent to Kohli after his retirement announcement. He told Kohli that he would miss playing alongside him. "I enjoy playing with him," Stokes added. "We have a similar mindset on the field."

Virat Kohli has played 123 Test matches in a span of 14 years. He made 9,230 runs with an average of 46.85. His tally of 30 centuries is part of his record. Kohli also captained India in 68 Tests and won 40 Tests as a captain.
