
Sports Hernia Surgery Performed in Munich
India's T20 cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav recently underwent surgery for a sports hernia in Munich, Germany. This was announced on Instagram. The affected area was on the right side of his abdomen. The operation went well, and he is recovering now.
Rehabilitation to Begin Soon
He will begin rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru within two weeks. On Instagram, Suryakumar wrote, “Life Update: Surgery was done for a sports hernia on the right side of the abdomen. Currently recovering. Want to get back on the field soon.”
Third Surgery for the Cricketer
This marks Suryakumar’s third surgery. In 2023, he underwent a heel operation. Earlier in 2024, he had another hernia surgery.
Excellent Performance in IPL 2025
In spite of such health issues, Suryakumar performed a significant role for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. He scored 717 runs in this season, the most by any non-opening batsman in the history of IPL.
T20I Record Holder
He also broke the record of T20 Internationals by making 25 or more runs in 16 successive matches. For his overall performance, he was declared the Player of the Tournament for IPL 2025.
