India's Bowling Vulnerability Revealed at Leeds
India's bowling issues became clear during the Leeds Test against England. Jasprit Bumrah performed well in the first innings, taking five wickets. However, in the second innings, he failed to take any. Other bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna conceded more runs than expected. This allowed England to chase down the 370+ target successfully.
Shami’s Message: Team Must Support Bumrah
Mohammed Shami was worried about the bowling unit's performance. According to him, Bumrah requires more assistance from the rest of the team. Shami has advised the other bowlers to speak with Bumrah, take tips from his strategy, and strategize their bowling.
"Indian bowlers will have to be more responsible," said Shami. "They will have to give support to Bumrah. Then we will be able to win easily. Our bowling plan needs improvement."
Shardul, Krishna Took Wickets Too Late
Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna also picked two wickets each in the second innings. However, their efforts came too late after England had already established superiority. Shami emphasized that the new ball should be utilized well to grab early wickets.
Issues Regarding Bumrah's Availability for Second Test
The second India-England Test is to be played at Edgbaston from July 2. There is uncertainty regarding Bumrah's availability. The management is planning to rest him to balance his workload. Reports indicate he may play in only three of the five Tests. Yet, this has not been confirmed by the BCCI.
