ENG Vs IND: AB De Villiers Says Bumrah Should Play All Five Tests

India's Tour of England and First Test Result

The Indian team is on tour to England. As part of the tour, India will be playing a five-match Test series. The first match of the Test series was played in Leeds. India lost the match. The second Test is to start on July 2 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. India is hoping to win the second match and bring the series level.

Bumrah's Limited Availability

India's ace pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah will feature in merely three of the five Test matches. This is as part of the team's workload management plan.
AB de Villiers' View Regarding Participation of Bumrah

AB de Villiers, the former South African captain, spoke about this decision. He opined that Bumrah is among the greatest bowlers in all formats. He does not think it is a good idea to rest Bumrah in a series of important Tests. Test cricket is the pinnacle of the game, according to de Villiers, and Bumrah must play all five Tests.

Suggestion on Managing Bumrah's Workload

De Villiers suggested that Team India rest Bumrah in T20 and ODI matches instead. He elaborated that, when he was the captain of South Africa, they handled Dale Steyn's workload by keeping him rested in limited-overs games but always playing him in crucial Test series, particularly against sides like India, England, and Australia.

Acknowledging Medical Advice

De Villiers also mentioned that the decision could have been taken on medical grounds. If the doctors have told Bumrah not to play all five Tests, then the team has to abide by that. He emphasized properly utilizing Bumrah, particularly in Tests.
