Second Test to Begin on July 2 at Edgbaston
The second Test match between India and England will start on July 2 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has asserted that Jasprit Bumrah will be available to be picked.
Previously, there was a plan by the team management to use Bumrah in just three Tests from the five-match series, considering his physical condition. India lost the first Test and stands at 0-1 in the series. If Bumrah misses the second match, it could affect India's performance.
Bumrah's Participation Still Not Finalized
Ryan ten Doeschate stated:
"Bumrah will be ready for the second Test. We had planned for him to play three Tests in the series anyway. He got eight days' rest after the first match. But we are going through his workload and the pitch scenario before taking a call."
He also said that the team is keeping an eye on the fitness of other players.
"If we feel playing Bumrah in this Test is what we should do, we'll make a decision at the last moment. We'll wait for the weather and how the pitch fares," he clarified.
India Could Employ Two Spinners
India could play two spinners for the Edgbaston Test, subject to the behavior of the pitch in the run-up.
England Announces Unchanged Squad
England has declared its final team for the second Test. The same side from the first match will play. Despite rumors, Jofra Archer was not in the playing XI.
