Cricket Returns After 128 Years

Cricket will return to the Olympic Games after 128 years. The cricket timetable has been announced by the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 Organizing Committee. All the matches will be played in the T20 format. The opening match is on July 12, 2028. The previous Olympic cricket match was held in 1900, and that too was played only between Great Britain and France.

Men's and Women's Events Confirmed

The men and women teams will play cricket matches during the 2028 Olympics. The competitions will be played in the format of T20. There will be six teams competing for the bronze, silver, and gold medals. The matches will be played at the Pomona Fairplex that is located approximately 50 kilometers from Los Angeles.

Cricket Schedule Overview

  • Group Stage:
    • Segment 1: July 12 to July 18
    • Segment 2: July 22 to July 28
  • Semi-Finals and Finals:
    • Men's Matches: July 19
    • Women's Matches: 29th July
  • Double headers will be played every game day.
  • There will be 15 players in each team.
  • There are 180 athlete spots allocated.
