Russell to Step Away After Second T20 Against Australia

Andre Russell, the ace all-rounder of T20 cricket, has announced his international retirement. The West Indian cricketer will retire after the second T20 match against Australia.

The 37-year-old made the announcement before the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka. While he was selected for the entire five-match series, he decided to play only the first two matches.

Final Games at Home Turf Sabina Park

Russell's final two international games will be played at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica—his home turf—on July 20 and 22. The games will be the conclusion of his 15-year international career.

With the West Indies, Russell has been part of their victories in the 2012 and 2016 T20 World Cups.

Russell has played only T20 cricket since 2019. His international record is as follows:

  • 56 One Day Internationals (ODIs)
  • 84 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is)

For ODIs, he made 1,034 runs and picked up 70 wickets. For T20Is, he made 1,078 runs and picked up 61 wickets.
