WCL 2025: Brett Lee And Shahid Afridi Respond To India-Pakistan Match Cancellation

India-Pakistan Match Cancelled Due to Security Issues

In the World Championship Legends (WCL) 2025, the India-Pakistan match was cancelled. India chose not to play matches against Pakistan after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. As a result of this choice, the game was officially cancelled.

Brett Lee Speaks Up

Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee reacted when a journalist reminded him of the cancellation. He presented a balanced opinion:

"That's a difficult one. I love India, and I love Pakistan. I wish both teams could play against each other again in the future. At the moment, we are concentrating on the tournament — Australia, India, South Africa — all of us are playing. The match was postponed last night for some reasons. But we all wished that the match would have been good," Brett Lee said.

Afridi Calls for Leaving Politics Out of Cricket

Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan Legends team captain, spoke about his concerns once the game had been cancelled. He insisted on keeping cricket out of politics:

"We came to play cricket. I always say cricket must keep a distance from politics. Every player plays for his country. If India did not want to play, they should have told us beforehand. It's not fair to practice and then back out," Afridi stated.

Uncertainty Continues for Upcoming Matches

As per WCL sources, it is still uncertain what would be done if India and Pakistan are pitted against each other in the semifinals or the final. There has been no official decision regarding this yet.
