Siraj Confirms Bumrah's Participation
Mohammed Siraj confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah would feature in the fourth Test against England on July 23 in Manchester. The Indian team management had previously mentioned that Bumrah would play only three of the five Tests of the series. As Bumrah has played two matches already, his availability for the fourth Test was uncertain. Siraj has now clarified that Bumrah is in the playing scheme.
Siraj Speaks on Team Strategy and Individual Motivation
Siraj mentioned, "Jassi bhai (Bumrah) will play. That is the update I have now. Combinations of the team will keep changing according to the match requirements. We want to bowl diligently against England's batting order, which displayed patience at Lord's. Irrespective of the way they played, we stuck to the plan."
He further said, "The manner in which I exited at Lord's was disappointing. Had we won that match, we would have had a 2-1 lead. Jaddu bhai attempted hard, but I kept reminding myself the series isn't finished yet. I have been concentrating more on batting. We tailenders have put in extra effort since the Australia tour. Getting defeated by 22 runs at Lord's was painful."
Bowling Performance in the Series
Siraj has picked 13 wickets in the three Tests so far, and he is India's top wicket-taker. Bumrah is not far behind, having picked up 12 wickets in two Tests.
Series Stakes Remain High
India needs to win the Manchester Test in order to win the series in England. A defeat or a draw would dash their hopes of a series win.
