Harbhajan Singh Supports Karun Nair, Calls For Equal Opportunities For All The Players

Karun Nair Criticized for His Poor Performance in England Test Series

Indian batsman Karun Nair is having a tough time in the ongoing five-Test series against England. Following his return to the Test team after an eight-year gap, he has failed to perform. In three matches until now, he has made just 131 runs. Because of his low scores, some critics have opined that he should not be included in the remaining two Tests.

Harbhajan Singh Backs Karun Nair's Selection

Ex-Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has defended Karun Nair. In his opinion, all players must be given equal opportunities. Harbhajan cited the example of batsmen Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, who were also provided with time to settle in the team before playing consistent cricket.

Equal Opportunities Are Important, Says Harbhajan

Harbhajan remarked, "Yes, Karun Nair hasn't scored a lot of runs. But if you provide him a constant opportunity, he might improve. Every player should be treated equally. Karun Nair should get the same amount of opportunities that other players got."

He further added that while some players receive five or six matches to establish themselves, Karun Nair should receive the same encouragement. Harbhajan also added that Sai Sudarshan received just one match, which he did not feel was sufficient. As Karun has already played three matches, Harbhajan wishes for him to stay in the remaining games.

Crucial Fourth Test Ahead

India is currently behind 1-2 in the series against England. The fourth Test will commence on Wednesday, July 23, in Manchester. The match is extremely crucial for India. If they win, they remain in the running to win the series. If they lose or draw, the series is going to England.

Team Selection for the Fourth Test Uncertain

As the next match approaches, there is uncertainty over team selection. It is unclear whether Karun Nair will remain in the playing XI or if Sai Sudarshan will be given another chance.
