Shastri lauds Sundar's Test potential
Former India coach Ravi Shastri opines that Washington Sundar has the potential to have a long career as a Test all-rounder. He stated that he has been observing Sundar since the early days of his cricket career and always loved his ability. Based on Shastri, 25-year-old Sundar still has several years of Test cricket left.
Shastri further added that Sundar has the ability to contribute with bat and ball. He believes Sundar might be a good spin option on Indian pitches favorable to turn. He also remembered Sundar's impressive performance against New Zealand the previous year, where Sundar bowled better than experienced spinners.
Sundar's increasing contribution in Indian Test cricket
Since R. Ashwin has retired and Ravindra Jadeja's career is also coming to an end, Washington Sundar might become more significant to India in Tests. In this current series against England, he is performing with runs and wickets.
Up to now, Sundar has appeared in two matches in the series. He scored 77 runs and picked up five wickets. His performances have been at critical moments in the matches, unveiling his future potential as a useful all-rounder.
