Chris Woakes: I Apologized… Pant Sent A Voice Note Saying ‘We Will Meet Again’

Woakes and Pant Showed Grit in the England-India Test Series

In the recent England vs. India Test series, two players emerged for their grit. In spite of severe injuries, India's Rishabh Pant and England's Chris Woakes did not give up. Pant had injured his foot, whereas Woakes played with one hand as he had a dislocated shoulder. The five-match series ended in a 2-2 draw.

Woakes Hailed by Indian Players

Following the last match, a number of Indian players complimented Woakes. He revealed he had messages from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.

"Shubman Gill valued me for playing despite being hurt," Woakes explained. "He said it was a courageous thing to do. I complimented Gill on his batting and captaincy also. He played with good support to his team. I mentioned that stepping out to bat was the right thing for me to do, though we still had 100 runs to get. Losing is always painful, but I feel that other players would have done the same thing," he continued.

Pant's Message After the Match

Woakes spoke of a nice gesture by Pant on Instagram. Woakes had posted a picture, and then Pant posted a salute emoji as a comment. Woakes thanked him and said that he hoped Pant's foot was getting better. Pant replied with a voice message as follows:

"Hope everything goes well. Get well soon. We will definitely meet one day."

Woakes also said he apologized to Pant, as the Indian player got injured while attempting a reverse shot off his delivery.
