Batting Coach Sitanshu Kotak Praises Yashasvi Jaiswal's Composed Century Against West Indies

Yashasvi Jaiswal's Domination Performance

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a spectacular display in the second Test against West Indies in Delhi. Missing a big half-century in the last match, he made a good comeback with a brilliant 173 not out on the first day. His batting has been welcomed extensively by cricket experts as well as fans. If he can maintain his momentum on the second day, he is off to a roaring start to go for a double hundred.

Coaching Advice Behind the Knock

Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak revealed that a crucial conversation during the tea break on the first day helped Yashasvi stay focused. He praised Yashasvi’s commitment and determination, explaining that the young opener adapted well to changing pitch conditions.

The new ball was coming well to the bat, and Yashasvi played good shots in the early period. But once 60–65 overs had passed, the pitch slowed down, and I told him to calm down and not play loose shots," Kotak said.

Kotak added that Yashasvi followed the advice effectively, turning his good start into a match-defining innings. He highlighted that while many focus on Yashasvi’s aggressive style, his real strength lies in reading the conditions and choosing the right shots at the right time.

Chasing Historic Records

Till date, just two Indian cricketers have picked triple centuries in Test cricket — Virender Sehwag (two) and Karun Nair (one). As the Delhi pitch is pro-batting, now the time has come for Yashasvi to join this elite group. Cricket experts believe that if he keeps his cool on the second morning, record-breaking score for certain is in his kitty.
