Glenn McGrath Lists Top 5 Indian ODI Batsmen

Overview of McGrath's List

Australia's former fast bowler Glenn McGrath has revealed his top five Indian batsmen for One Day Internationals (ODIs). Though he did name cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, he ranked the contemporary batsmen higher. McGrath listed Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Yuvraj Singh as India's best ODI players.

Rohit Sharma's Position in the List

McGrath placed Rohit Sharma second on his list. He highlighted Rohit’s excellent ODI record, which includes three double centuries and the highest individual score in ODI history — 264 runs. So far, Rohit has scored more than 11,000 runs in 276 matches. McGrath noted that Rohit’s ODI performance is stronger than his Test record and described him as a “class player.”

Virat Kohli’s Dominance in ODIs

According to McGrath, it is difficult to give the top spot to anyone other than Virat Kohli. He praised Kohli’s consistency, strike rate, and batting average, calling them exceptional.

Rohit Sharma’s Record Against Australia

Rohit Sharma played well in the last ODI series against Australia, the first after his long absence from international cricket for nearly seven months. He scored a century and a half-century and was given the award of Player of the Series. Rohit achieved 1,000 ODI runs on Australian soil during this series. He also became the second Indian batsman to have scored over 2,500 ODI runs against Australia.
