India Ends 47-Year Wait for ODI World Cup Title
The Indian women's cricket team has won the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 after almost 47 years. This was possible because of persistent effort from the players and head coach Amol Muzumdar. Though in the initial stages of the tournament, India suffered defeat a couple of times, Muzumdar remained undeterred and kept his team motivated.
In an interview to PTI, Muzumdar reiterated that the players and support staff are the actual architects behind this success.

"The real architects behind the World Cup victory are the cricketers and the support staff. Everyone has performed their duties brilliantly. This is their victory," Muzumdar said.
He also reflected on his own journey, revealing that he retired from cricket in 2014 and never played a single match for India. “It has been 11 years since my retirement. All that is in the past now,” he said. According to Muzumdar, this World Cup victory marks a new beginning in women's participation in Indian sports.
Another high-point was to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "It was a memorable moment. I thank Prime Minister Modi for his constant support," said Muzumdar.
