Pant And Dhruv Jurel Should Both Be Included In The Final Team: Aakash Chopra

Upcoming Test Series Between India and South Africa

The first Test match between India and South Africa is scheduled to start on November 14 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The main point of discussion among the selectors is who will play as the wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant or Dhruv Jurel.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra shared his opinion that both players must feature in the final playing XI.

Chopra’s View on Selection of Members

Aakash Chopra believes that because Rishabh Pant is the vice-captain, his inclusion in the team is almost a given. However, Aakash Chopra said that Dhruv Jurel also has a good claim because he is in great form and has been performing consistently.

Chopra said that in order to fit in both the wicketkeepers, one of the two players - Sai Sudharsan from the top order or Nitish Kumar Reddy from the lower order - has to be left out. He maintained that Sai Sudharsan must play at number three and Nitish Kumar, who is out of form, can be excluded.

Dhruv Jurel's Recent Performances

Dhruv Jurel has been in great form of late, scoring 125 against the West Indies in October, while remaining unbeaten on 132 runs for India A in the unofficial Test against South Africa A. The performances have brought about a selection dilemma in front of the team management and the selectors.
