IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders Appoint Tim Southee As Bowling Coach

Kolkata Knight Riders have announced Tim Southee as their new bowling coach for IPL 2026. The franchise confirmed the update on Friday. Southee replaces Bharat Arun, who held the role previously. The team recently made other coaching changes as well. Abhishek Nayar is now the head coach, while Shane Watson joins as assistant coach. Dwayne Bravo continues as mentor.

Southee said it's an honour to be back working with the team. He noted the strong history of the franchise, a loyal fan base, and accomplished players. He added that he aims to support the bowlers in such a way to help the team compete strongly in IPL 2026.

KKR CEO Venky Mysore welcomed Southee, adding that his experience will support the bowling group. He said his leadership will guide the younger bowlers. He has represented New Zealand in 107 Tests, 161 ODIs, and 126 T20Is, taking 700 wickets across all formats. Reports indicate that KKR may not retain Ajinkya Rahane, who was leading them last season. All franchises are expected to submit their list of retained and released players to the BCCI by November 15th. Fans await the final announcement.
