Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur remembered the moment she got her first cheque from cricket. She earned about Rs 90,000 after tax deductions on the tour fee of Rs 1 lakh, she recalled, adding that when she saw the cheque, she was proud and celebrated it like she was the richest woman in the world.

This cheque was given to Kaur's father, Harminder Singh, who had supported her cricket career while he worked as a clerk in a local court. According to her, he spent a lot on her training, and now this was the first time she could give something back in return. She said he deserved that first earning.

Career Milestones and World Cup Memory

Harmanpreet made her ODI and T20 debut in 2009. In 2014, she was selected for the team during India's tour of England.In the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, India defended a target of 299 by bowling out South Africa for 246 in 45.3 overs. The game ended when the last batter from South Africa, De Klerk, lifted the ball in the air and Harmanpreet completed a clean catch.

She kept the match ball safely in her pocket. According to her, she watches that ball again and again because the moment changed her life and career. That catch, according to her, remains one of the most meaningful moments for Indian cricket. Emotional Reaction and Future Expectations Harmanpreet said she can't express precisely what she felt at that catch. She added that her only aim was to win the World Cup, and achieving it was a special experience. She said women cricketers are entitled to equal pay as well as recognition like their male counterparts.
