Ravindra Jadeja Sets New Milestone In Guwahati Test

Team India and South Africa are in the second Test match in Guwahati. The fourth day is in progress. On Tuesday (November 25), Ravindra Jadeja made a new record. His achievement brought him alongside top Indian bowlers Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin.

In the first session, Jadeja removed South African openers Ryan Rickelton (35) and Aiden Markram (29). These two wickets took him through 50 Test wickets against South Africa. He thus became the fifth Indian bowler to achieve the mark in Test cricket.

Before Jadeja, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin had taken 50 or more wickets against South Africa in Test cricket. The ongoing match in Guwahati is Jadeja’s 11th Test against the team. He has taken 50 wickets across 19 innings.

The record of most wickets by an Indian bowler against South Africa is still held by Anil Kumble. He accounted for 84 wickets in 21 Test matches. Jasprit Bumrah, though, may reach the 50-wicket mark soon too, with 46 scalps in 10 matches, he needs just four wickets to find a place in this list.
