Team India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, won the T20 World Cup 2024. They defeated South Africa in the final by seven runs. Earlier, India won their first T20 World Cup in 2007 under MS Dhoni. Rohit Sharma was also a part of that team. After 17 years, India again won the T20 World Cup in 2024 under Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma retired from T20 cricket after this victory.
The schedule for the T20 World Cup 2026 was announced on Tuesday. Rohit Sharma attended the event. He was also named the brand ambassador of the tournament. Indian men’s captain Suryakumar Yadav and women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur were also present at the event. Rohit said, “The 2023 ODI World Cup final was held in Ahmedabad. By God’s grace, we won that match. After eight months, we won another ICC trophy. I believe Team India will reach the final in the next T20 World Cup. It will be exciting to see which team they play against.”
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted between India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. India and Pakistan are in the same group. Their match will take place on February 15 in Colombo.
