The IPL 2026 mini-auction is going to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. This year, many established players will not participate for different reasons. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has not registered for the auction. Last season he played for Punjab. However, he delivered a weak performance. He scored 48 runs in seven matches and took four wickets. Later, he withdrew from the tournament due to injury.
West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has announced his retirement from the IPL. KKR has assigned the role of power coach to him. In the meantime, South African batter Faf du Plessis and England all-rounder Moeen Ali announced that they would miss the IPL 2026 season as both of them are planning to join the Pakistan Super League.
1,355 players have signed up for this year's auction. The total slots available for all the teams together are 77. Of these, 31 are for overseas players. The Kolkata Knight Riders have the highest purse with ₹64.3 crore. Chennai Super Kings come next with a purse of ₹43.4 crore.
