We Would Be Happy If Both Do Not Play World Cup 2027: Afghanistan Cricketer

Afghanistan wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz says he would be pleased if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli do not play in the ODI World Cup 2027. He implied that maybe it would be better that legends like Rohit and Kohli are not a part of it.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from T20 and Test cricket. They continue playing ODI cricket. Both the cricketers are gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2027, though their futures remain a question mark.

Recently, both the players performed well in the tour of Australia. They even did great in the first ODI at Ranchi against South Africa. Kohli scored 135 runs while Rohit contributed 57 runs. They shared a partnership of 136 runs together for the second wicket.

Gurbaz said, "As an Afghanistan player, I would be happy if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not in the Indian team. If they were in Team India, India would have more chances of winning. Both are legends. Their presence in the team makes the opponents stronger."

He also spoke of his experience with Kohli: “Whenever I faced difficulties, I asked Virat bhai for guidance. In the last three years, whenever I contacted him, he responded quickly. Recently, when I was finding it difficult to score runs, I reached out to him. In the next match, I scored 90 runs. Kohli is very simple. He works hard and enjoys the game. Enjoying cricket is important to perform well,” Gurbaz said.
