Team India has extended their losing toss streak in ODIs to 20. The streak started during the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia on November 19, 2023. Team India last won a toss in the semi-final of the very same tournament, which took place against New Zealand.
Since then, there have been three captains who have commanded the Indian ODI team: Rohit Sharma, who has lost the toss 12 times, KL Rahul 5 times, and Shubman Gill 3 times. This was the previous record for successive ODI toss losses before this - 11 by the Netherlands between 2011 and 2013.
The upcoming third ODI against South Africa in Visakhapatnam has been talked about because fans wonder if India will finally win the toss. If India wins it, the streak would end, but if not, the tally will rise to 21 consecutive losses.
