It Is Not Right To Blame One Person For Team India's Test Series Loss: Ravi Shastri

Team India won the ODI series against South Africa 2-1. However, they lost the Test series 0-2. Former Team India coach Ravi Shastri commented on this in a YouTube podcast. According to him, it is not correct to blame a single player for defeat in the Test series.

Ravi Shastri said, “When such results happen, the players too are to be blamed. It is not right to target only one person. I have faced the same situation in my career, which is why I speak from experience. The players should accept responsibility for the loss.”

He further went on to say, "From team management to the players, blame shouldn't come on one person alone. South Africa defeated India as a unit. No one South African player defeated India on his own. South Africa played well as a team. Did we do the same?

This was South Africa's first Test series victory on Indian soil after almost 25 years. Back in 1999-2000, South Africa had won a two-Test series 2-0. Since Gautam Gambhir took over as coach, Team India has thrown up mixed results: whitewashed at home by New Zealand and South Africa, lost the series in Australia, and managed a tie in England.

Team India is, however, still doing well in white-ball cricket. India won the ICC Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup, showing how consistent they are in the limited-overs format.
