Team India has suffered a whitewash against South Africa in the recently concluded Test series with a 2-0 score. However, the same team performed with aplomb in the ODI series. Team India won the ODI series 2-1.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were among the main contributors with the bat. Virat Kohli scored successive centuries in the Ranchi and Raipur ODIs. He also made an unbeaten half-century in the Visakhapatnam match. Overall, he scored 302 runs in the three-match series and became the top scorer.
He made half-centuries in Ranchi (57) and Visakhapatnam (75). In Raipur he scored 14 runs, taking his tally to 146 runs in the series. Both the players played immense roles in India’s ODI series win. In the latest ICC ODI rankings, Rohit Sharma maintained his top spot whereas Virat Kohli slipped to second place.
Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa lashed out at Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir. He felt Gambhir did not take the names of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli during the post-series win press conference. Uthappa felt both of them were worth being discussed. He further added, “The Rohit-Kohli duo proved their form and silenced critics with their batting.” He shared these comments on his YouTube channel.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from T20 and Test formats. Now they are playing only in ODI matches. Both are targeting the 2027 ODI World Cup. Rohit Sharma has lost almost 10 kgs and has become lean and fit. Virat Kohli is still very fit.
