The fourth match of T20 between Team India and South Africa, which was to be held in Lucknow yesterday, was cancelled owing to the presence of fog even before the toss was made. The ground was inspected by the umpires a number of times in the night. The match was formally cancelled at 9:25 PM.
Some spectators expressed the same frustration. Some of them claimed they had spent considerable effort buying the tickets and were asking for refunds. Others expressed the same sentiments by saying refunds won’t solve the issue because they wanted to see the match anyway. It’s important to note that fog has been a challenge in Lucknow in the past few days and that they should consider holding such matches in the afternoon instead of the night. BCCI’s refund policy indicates that the ticket fee is normally refunded in case of a cancelled match before the first ball is bowled.
There are also reports that Axar Patel will be unavailable for the fourth and fifth T20s because of illness, and Shubman Gill will be missing some matches because of injury. The fifth match will take place on Friday, the 19th of December, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and team India is currently leading the series 2-1.
Since the fourth T20 has been cancelled, South Africa will not win the series, and India will not lose the series. If India wins the fifth T20, they will win the series 3-1. If South Africa wins, the series will end in a 2-2 tie.
