Indian batsman Virat Kohli maintained his scintillating form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign for Delhi, playing a match-winning knock against Gujarat. The right-handed willow had scored 77 runs off 61 balls, laced with 13 fours and one six, on Friday. His knock propelled Delhi to a narrow 7-run victory.
Delhi Edge Past Gujarat
- Delhi batted first and scored 254 runs for 9 wickets. Kohli anchored the innings and played with control. He scored runs through on-drives and cut shots, apart from one big pull shot over midwicket off Chintan Gaja that sailed over the ropes for six. Kohli looked set for a century but was stumped off spinner Vishal, who finished with figures of 4 for 42.
- After the fall of Kohli, skipper Rishabh Pant played the anchor role. Pant contributed 70 runs in 79 deliveries, laced with eight fours and two sixes. This knocks helped Delhi reach a competitive total score.
- Gujarat responded well. Arya made 57, and Saurav Chauhan chipped in with 49. Unfortunately for Gujarat, however, it lost wickets in the latter part of the innings and was bowled out for 247.
Rohit Sharma Dismissed Early, Mumbai Post Big Total
- Rohit Sharma, who scored a century in his previous encounter, was dismissed for a duck against Uttarakhand. The Mumbai opener was bowled on the very first ball by Devendra Bora in Jaipur.
- Despite Rohit’s early exit, Mumbai posted 331 runs for 7 wickets. Hardik Tamore top-scored with 93 runs. Musheer Khan and Sarfaraz Khan scored 55 runs each, while Mulani added 48.
- Uttarakhand responded with 280/9. Yuvraj made 96, and Suchith contributed 51. Shardul picked up 2/40 and Musheer captured 2/57 as Mumbai defended the total.
Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka Record Big Wins
- While Uttar Pradesh dominated Chandigarh in their match, recording a massive 227-run victory. UP scored 367 runs for 4 wickets. Aryan Juyal scored 134 runs, and Rinku Singh added 106 as Dhruv Jurel scored 67.
- Chandigarh was bowled out for 140 in 29.3 overs. Zeeshan Ansari impressed with figures of 4 for 29.
- Karnataka won by 8 wickets against Kerala. Kerala managed 284 runs for 7 wickets, wherein Azharuddin top scored with 84 runs. In response, Karun Nair made 130* and Devdutt Padikkal 124. Karnataka chased the target in 48.2 overs, losing only 2 wickets.
Hyderabad Lose Again
- Hyderabad suffered their second loss in the competition as Vidarbha won against them by 89 runs in Rajkot. Vidarbha, batting first, posted 365/5. Dhruv Shorey remained not out on 109, while Ravi Kumar made 63. Karthikeya took 3 wickets for 87.

Hemant Reddy Guides Andhra to First Win
- Andhra tasted victory for the first time in this tournament, defeating Railways by 6 wickets in Alur. Railways managed 266 for 9. Ravi Singh chipped in with 76, while Ansh Yadav made 59 and Zubair added 48.
- Satyanarayana Raju and Kalidindi Raju took three wickets each. Hemant Reddy took 2/34.
- While chasing, Ricky Bhui made 76, Nitish Kumar Reddy remained not out on 55 and Hemant Reddy scored 41 not out. Andhra reached the target in 44.4 overs, losing 4 wickets.

Virat Kohli now has the highest batting average in List A cricket at 57.87. His half-century against Gujarat ensured he overtook Michael Bevan’s record of 57.86. Kohli has scored three centuries and three half-centuries in his last six List A matches. His recent form includes ODI scores of 135, 102 and 65* against South Africa, after a 74-run knock against Australia. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 131 against Andhra and 77 against Gujarat.
