India Secures Series Win With Dominant Performance In Second Youth ODI

India's Under-19 team showcased their excellent form touring South Africa by triumphing the second Youth ODI quite easily. This win by eight wickets allowed India to win the three-match series 2–0 with one match still to be played.

South Africa Bowled Out for 245

  • South African Under-19 team, after winning the toss, decided to go for batting first option. They, however, lost all their wickets and set a target of 245 runs in 49.3 overs. The standout performer of the match was Jason Rolls who batted at number four. He scored 114 runs off 113 balls with seven hits to the fence and three over the boundary.
  • All other batsmen from South Africa's line-up could not really support Jason well enough to make big partnership. Daniel Bosman made 31 runs, while Adnaan Lagardien scored 25. Armaan Manack got 16 runs, Bulbulia contributed 14, and Jorich van Schalkwyk was dismissed for a meager 10.
  • India’s bowlers were always on top. Front-liner Kishan Kumar Singh captured four wickets. R. S. Ambarish was successful in taking two wickets. The other bowlers, Deepesh Devendran, Kanishk Chauhan, and Khilan Patel all got one wicket each.

Rain Alters the Chase

India started with a steady batting but the rain, thunder, and lightning interrupted the play. Consequently, the match was curtailed to 27 overs. India's target was revised to 174 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Leads the Chase

  • India successfully chased the target, scoring 174 for 2 in 23.3 overs. An aggressive innings was played by Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He made 68 runs in just 24 balls with one four and ten sixes. His innings set the mood for the chase.
  • Abhigyan Kundu remained not out on 48, while Vedant Trivedi scored 31 not out. Aaron George also scored 20 runs.

Series Clinched, Final Match Ahead

India has confirmed the series victory with this victory. The third and final decider, which is now a dead rubber, will take place on Wednesday.
