India has faced a player injury issue before the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Cricketer Tilak Varma has sustained an injury in his lower abdomen that needed surgery. After the operation, he is expected to be off for a few weeks.

- Tilak Varma injured in the process of leading Hyderabad in the current Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament. The matches of Hyderabad's team are being held in the city of Rajkot. The batter from Hyderabad is estimated to be out of action for three to four weeks. He will therefore not take part in the series of five T20 matches against New Zealand, which is to start on January 21. The team management has not yet made any announcement regarding his replacement.
